A day after the unusual malfunction that caused the disconnection of the emergency centers throughout the country, the Ministry of Communications published the first findings from the investigation of the incident this morning (Tuesday), from which it appears that the malfunction was caused by an electrical fault. It was also clarified that there are no findings of a cyber attack.

"Around 2:00 in the morning, during the execution of initiated electrical work at the Bezeq facility harm occurred, as a result of which, many communication lines were cut off, including emergency centers. The ministry's statement said: "Bezeq is handling the incident from the moment it occurred and the Ministry of Communications is closely following the incident. Bezeq reported that dialing all emergency centers using the abbreviated numbers has returned to normal operation."

According to them, "According to the information and findings so far, this is not a cyber attack but rather a malfunction caused during the execution of initiated electrical work. The Ministry of Communications established a special team to ensure the return of services to full service, to investigate the incident, and to draw lessons from Bezeq, all telecommunications companies, and in the emergency centers.".

Communications Minister Shlomo Karai said: "Last night, Bezeq and the Ministry of Communications acted with lightning speed and took care of the malfunction, while providing an alternative response and coordination with the Minister of National Security and the emergency teams in the ministries. The incident proves to us that backup layers for emergency needs are extremely necessary, in particular when it comes to communication infrastructure and life-saving information. We will work to that end with God's help."

The director general of the Ministry of Communications, Maimon (Moni) Shmila, added that this was a "not good event! However, quick actions were taken to restore the service immediately. The office will continue to act in order to ensure a full return to competence, will investigate the incident at Bezeq, other companies, and the emergency centers and lessons will be learned, including recommendations for treatment."
