A siren was heard just heard just now (Wednesday) in Eilat, due to a possible hostile aircraft entering Israeli territory. The residents were required to enter a secure space until further notice.

The city of Eilat said that “security forces in the area updated that a successful interception had been carried out” and clarified that there is no aerial threat. The IDF Spokesperson later updated that an Air Force fighter plane successfully intercepted a cruise missile fired from Yemen towards Israel. They also clarified that the threat did not penetrate into Israel.

This is the third time a missile has been reported fired from Yemen towards Israel. Last week, sirens went off when a missile in the Red Sea area was intercepted by aerial defense systems via the Arrow long-range missile system.

A week before, a drone apparently sent from Syria towards the city exploded in Eilat. The drone blew up in a school and caused property damage and very light injuries.
