The Minister of Settlements and National Missions Orit Strook addressed an urgent letter today (Tuesday) to Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fox, demanding to acquire the position of the IDF and the Shin Bet regarding the abductees deal that is taking shape between Israel and Hamas. Her words come ahead of the government meeting that will be held tonight at 8:00 PM to approve the outline for the release of the abductees.

In the letter Strook presented an article published in the media, according to which "the army and the Shin Bet think that the deal is a mistake." "In light of the above, I would like to receive in writing the position of the IDF and the Shin Bet, detailed and reasoned, for each of the details of the deal that is taking shape, and this even before the discussion in preparation for the vote in the government," it said.

As mentioned, the government will meet tonight at 8:00 PM after discussions of the war cabinet and the political-security cabinet. According to the law, only the government is allowed to decide on deals for the release of prisoners, and the meaning is clear - there is a hostage deal with Hamas.

According to reports, the apparent deal will include the release of three terrorists for every one abductee - that is, 50 abductees - women and children, in exchange for 150 minor terrorists and female terrorists imprisoned in Israel. But it is not yet known whether as a first step Hamas will release 50 hostages at once, or in a trickle of ten hostages each time. Israel will commit to a ceasefire for 5 days, with the option of an extension in exchange for the continued release of prisoners.
