Israel-Gaza War, Captives

Parents of Captives: Pressuring Hamas is How We Free Them

The Tikvah Forum of captives' parents called on the government to pressure Hamas to free the hostages. They also opposed separating hostages based on sex or age. "It will cause a rift in families."

The members of the Tikvah Forum of families of hostages demanded today (Tuesday) that cabinet members increase pressure on Hamas and stop all humanitarian aid including introducing fuel into the Strip. This demand comes against the background of a meeting held at the Kiryah in Tel Aviv where Defense Minister Yoav Gallant repeated his view that the way to free all the hostages is by increasing pressure on Hamas.

Separating Hostages From One Another Will Cause a Rift Among Families

The parents of the Tikvah Forum noted that they trust the IDF which they said were working day and night by pressuring Hamas and terror organizations in Gaza.

According to them: “We thank and support the IDF soldiers working bravely and powerfully in the Gaza Strip and give them backing for their stubborn war to extract all the hostages as fast as possible. We see the dedication of the soldiers every day and their bravery.”

The Forum also said that separation or “selection” between soldiers and young men and children, women, and the elderly will harm the unity of families and will lead to a rift between them as we unfortunately saw last night. They also expressed the fear that the immediate price of such a decision would leave the young men in life-threatening danger and worsening conditions by leaving them for longer in Hamas captivity.

They ended by saying that “we have a responsibility and sympathy for all the hostages and worry about their full release and without leaving anyone in Hamas captivity,” adding that “unity between all parts of the nation must be increased.”
