Longtime Palestinian peace activist Bassam Eid tweeted a warning to his followers: "There is no chance for peace as long as people celebrate terrorism and the slaughter of innocent people."

Eid, a Jerusalem-based political analyst, human rights pioneer, and expert commentator on Arab and Palestinian affairs, has spent 26 years researching UNRWA policies and has written extensively on the subject of UNRWA reform. He also is an outspoken critic of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement, otherwise known as BDS.

During the 2023 Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, Eid condemned Hamas for the October 7 attacks against Israel and criticized Turkey and Jordan for supporting Hamas.
