The management of the 'Torat HaHayim' yeshiva, which was previously in Gush Katif, sent a letter to the Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, in which it requests to return and settle in the Gaza Strip "as soon as this becomes possible according to the assessments of the security forces", in their words.
Eitan Alpert, a member of the yeshiva's board who sent the letter, points out that until today the yeshiva has not been inhabited in permanent buildings, and thus he writes to the Minister of Defense: "In 5765, during the disengagement plan, our yeshiva, the 'Torat HaHayim' yeshiva, was evacuated from Gush Katif. The yeshiva settled in the settlement of Yad Binyamin, which belongs to the Nahal Sorek regional council, but to this day, unfortunately, the yeshiva and its institutions are not arranged by the state in permanent buildings, but only temporary buildings."
The management of the yeshiva mentions the possibility of hundreds of students and families settling: "Hundreds of students are currently studying at the yeshiva, and in addition there are hundreds of families who belong to our community, and we would like to help in the campaign and to keep the peace in the south and all over the country, and to resettle in Gush Katif and return to the land of our ancestors. In addition to this, you can see how such a move will strengthen many more to come and settle in the Gaza Strip."
The management of the yeshiva even added a security consideration in the letter, which was read by various security personnel in recent weeks: "I will also add and say in this regard that such a move in Gaza will strike our enemies with a severe and bitter blow, and will even deter other enemies when they see how he who stood in front of us lost land and not just human lives, which are hardly valued in his eyes at all."
