A new poll conducted for Maariv by Lazar Mechkarim shows that if the elections were held today, State Camp party chairman Benny Gantz would defeat Netanyahu handily.
According to the poll, State Camp would get 40 seats, Likud – 18, Yesh Atid – 14, Shas – 9, Yisrael Beiteinu – 9.
United Torah Judaism – 7, Otzmah Yehudit – 5, Hadash-Ta’al – 5, Ra’am – 5 seats, Religious Zionism – 4 seats, Meretz – 4 seats.
Labor and Balad end under the electoral threshold, with 1.1% and 1%, respectively.
The coalition bloc: 43 seats (without Gantz). The opposition bloc: 77 seats.
In response to the question: Who is more appropriate to be Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu or Benny Gantz? The responses were Netanyahu – 25%, Gantz – 52%, Don’t Know – 22%.
A breakdown of respondents shows that among Likud supporters last election, 53% believe Netanyahu is the most appropriate, as opposed to 24% who said Gantz. 23% said they don’t know. Among supporters of the State Camp party, just 2% believed Netanyahu to be the best choice for Prime Minister, while 98% responded that Gantz is the most appropriate choice.
