Officers of the Israel Police Yasam special forces unit arrived at a construction site in Bnei Brak today (Tuesday) and arrested a suspect who published his desire to be a martyr.

The suspect, a resident of Kafr Aqab in East Jerusalem, wrote on social media that “I don’t want to come the next day, I want to be a shahid (martyr).” The police followed him based on intelligence information and arrested him.

The Israel Police stated that “following up on the arrest of the suspect, a resident of East Jerusalem, a short time ago in Bnei Brak, the suspect was arrested after he was suspected to have uploaded a post to a social network that he intends to become a martyr. Rapid action by the forces of the Tel Aviv District Police led to his arrest at a construction site in Bnei Brak.”

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir wrote that “a resident of East Jerusalem published that he intended to become a shahid on social media. Officers of the Israel Police arrived rapidly and arrested him while he was in Bnei Brak. Congratulations to the special incitement team I formed with the Police Commissioner who works round the clock to arrest inciters and terror supporters, online and in the field. This is the only way it works!”
