Israel enters the 31st day of the war.
Yesterday (Sunday), the field observers war room, established for the Nachal Oz sector in the Re’im camp, was relaunched a month after the Hamas massacre.
During the Hamas surprise attack on October 7, terrorists broke through to the outpost in Nachal Oz and destroyed the field observers’ base. 13 of them were killed and 5 appear to have been taken captive to Gaza. One of these was Ori Megidish, who was rescued in a heroic operation by the IDF and Shin Bet. 48 additional soldiers, most of them from Golani’s 13th Battalion, were killed protecting the outpost.
Now, the field observer war room has been reopened at Re’im base – Gaza Division Command – where they can go back to observing the fence in the Northern Brigade sector and continue their work.
Commander of 414th Battalion, Lt.-Col. Ofir said: “The story of Nachal Oz will forever be the story of heroic conduct and fighting in the face of the enemy. We will bow our heads in memory of the fallen, embrace and support the dear families who are an inseparable part of the 414th Battalion from now until eternity.”
A commander at the Nachal Oz war room, Sgt. A. said: “Nachal Oz is home. Anyone who was there ever will attest to that. Nachal Oz is a war room with a special character, which will stay even if our location currently changed. We established a new war room in Re’im, but our spirit is still the spirit of Nachal Oz, and we will continue to fight for the country, in memory of our friends and the home we rebuilt.”
