The Saudi Kingdom strongly criticized the remarks of the Minister of Heritage, Amichai Eliav, who claimed that dropping an atomic bomb on Gaza is a possible scenario. This is what Ynet reporter Itamar Eichner reported according to a Reuters publication.
In response to Minister Eliyahu's statements, the Saudis condemned the statement of the Minister of Heritage and noted that "such statements reflect the extremism and cruelty within the Israeli government."
Amichai Eliyahu: "The statement about the atomic bomb - metaphorical"
As previously reported, Amichai Eliyahu was interviewed this morning (Sunday) on "Kol Barama" radio, where he expressed his opposition to providing humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip. "There is no place for the Gaza Strip; there should not be any presence in the northern part of the Strip. Anyone raising a flag of the PLO or Hamas should not continue to live on the face of the Earth," Eliyahu argued.
According to him, "We would not provide humanitarian aid to the Nazis, we would not say 'no harm to the uninvolved.' There are no uninvolved there. They are not afraid of death, we need to understand what deters them. 50 years break the deterrence of the IDF."
At this stage, Eliyahu was asked by the interviewers Yisrael Cohen and Yaki Adamkar if "we need to drop an atomic bomb on all of Gaza," and the minister replied that "this is one of the options." When asked about the hundreds of Israeli captives, Eliyahu said that he "prays and hopes for their return, but there are also costs in war."
After causing a storm, the minister tweeted on his Twitter page, "It is clear to anyone with common sense that the statement about the atomic bomb is metaphorical."
