Israel-Gaza War, Palestinian Authority
Blinken to Abu Mazen: PA Needs to Rule in Gaza
Blinken said this is the most logical option, though he added that other states and organizations would likely be involved in security matters.

During his tour of Israel, American Secretary of State Anthony Blinken visited Ramallah today (Sunday), where he met with Palestinian Authority President Abu Mazen against the background of the Israel-Hamas war and subsequent escalating tensions.
According to reports in the American media, Abu Mazen told Blinken that an immediate cease fire and aid flow into Gaza was necessary. Blinken responded that the US is committed to introducing aid into Gaza and restoring vital services there. Blinken also expressed America’s commitment to work to realize the legitimate aims of the Palestinians to establish an independent state.
In addition, Blinken is reported to have offered the PA to be involved in the governing of the Gaza Strip at the end of the war. He said this is the most logical proposal. However, Blinken also said that it is likely that other countries and international organizations will play a significant role in security and governance in the Strip.
Blinken in Israel: Palestinian Citizens Must Be Protected
During his visit to Israel, Blinken said that Israel must do more to protect Palestinian citizens. Otherwise they are playing into the hands of Hamas and the terrorists and won’t have partners for peace.
He also said that Hamas does not care about the welfare of the Palestinian people, cynically using them as human shields, and that the US is giving Israel friendly advice on how to strike Hamas while minimizing collateral damage.
Blinken also insisted on the increase of humanitarian aid in ways Hamas cannot exploit.
