IDF Spokesperson for Arabic, Lt.-Col. Avihai Edri, announced tonight that the IDF would open an another humanitarian corridor for residents of the Gaza Strip to evacuate southward. The effort comes after Hamas terrorists fired on IDF forces opening up the corridor in order to prevent residents from using the evacuation route.
According to Edri’s announcement, the route will be open today from 10:00 to 14:00. “Residents of Gaza, Hamas fired a mortar and an anti-tank (missile) towards our forces who wanted to open the road from the north of the Gaza Strip to its south so you can protect yourselves. Hamas’ people did this because they wanted to leave human shields for themselves and their leaders,” said Edri. “Despite this, the IDF will allow movement on Salah a-Din street. For your safety, take advantage of the coming time to move south to Wadi Gaza.”
Edri then strengthened his appeal to the residents of the Strip: “If you care about yourselves and your loved ones, leave south according to our instructions. You can be sure that Hamas leaders are already taking care of protecting themselves.”
As previously reported, Hamas took advantage of the humanitarian window of opportunity which the IDF granted the residents of Gaza, with Hamas terrorists attacking IDF forces opening the route with mortars and anti-tank missiles – with the aim of preventing its opening up for residents of the Strip. Despite this, the IDF Spokesperson said that “our forces suffered no casualties in this event.”

A recording of IDF communications shows the moment the forces were attacked. “For us, the population movement has started here,” a soldier says, then suddenly saying “I think they fired a small one at me.” It is then the recording contains the sound of an RPG firing.
