As part of a broad effort of Charedim to enlist in the IDF, Yanki Deri, the son of Shas Party chairman and MK Aryeh Deri is also in the process of enlisting in the IDF, in order to join the war Israel is fighting, according to a report by Kann 11 News reporter Michael Shemesh.

At the beginning of last week, some 120 Charedim presented at the Recruitment Office at Tel Hashomer base and underwent an expedited draft process. The new draftees were given a basic training course which ended yesterday (Thursday) and will now be placed in positions matching their civilian skills such as ambulance drivers, medics, paramedics, and positions in the Chief Rabbinate. Another process is taking place in tandem, where recruits will not have to undergo basic training and will instead serve as an auxiliary force where needed.

Army Radio reported that in light of the many appeals received by the army from Charedim seeking to enlist, two new combat companies were formed within the Nachal Charedi Battalions to help absorb them. The IDF Spokesperson said that over 2000 Charedim have sought to enlist since the beginning of the war.
