Hostile Aircraft Intercepted

A Hostile Aircraft Launched from Yemen was Intercepted in the Eilat Area

A Red Alert siren was heard in the city of Eilat and its surroundings due to suspicion of the infiltration of hostile aircraft. According to the IDF, it was intercepted outside of Israeli territory, most likely being launched by the Houthi rebels from Yemen.

A Red Color alert was heard in the Eilat area, and the suspicion is the infiltration of hostile aircraft. Residents in Eilat and the Eilot region were required to enter protected spaces.

About 20 seconds later, the IDF updated: "Following the alarm in Eilat, it appears that unmanned aerial vehicles from outside of Israel's territory have been shot down by the Air Defense Forces."

Apparently the origin of the aerial vehicle is from Yemen.

In the past two weeks, it was reported that the Houthi Shiite faction in Yemen, known as the Houthis, launched a number of long-range missiles towards Eilat. These missiles were intercepted and shot down by the air defense systems of the United States and Saudi Arabia over the Red Sea. A few days ago, rockets were also fired in the area of Taba, south of Eilat, causing casualties and damage. It is still unclear what the source of the rocket fire was.
