Good news from Soroka: Stav Bachar, a soldier in a combat unit, fought against terrorists at the Home Front IDF base near Urim on the Black Shabbat of Simchat Torah. She was seriously injured and was released from the hospital yesterday. That was her last weekend in the army, a Saturday in which she found herself in an unimaginable reality.
She strove for contact and near the base where she served, bravely stormed the terrorists and, together with other soldiers, fought for long hours. In this battle, she lost her best friend who served with her. She was referred to Soroka after suffering a severe gunshot wound to her abdomen, back and pelvis and was put into an operating room. She was treated by multidisciplinary teams of surgeons, orthopedists, anesthesiologists, nursing staff and more. Her condition improved significantly and to our great joy she was released from the hospital for rehabilitation yesterday.
A strong and deep bond was forged between Stav, the heroine who fought for the lives of others and for her own life, and the medical staff who treated her in the surgery department at the hospital during the last three weeks, and tears of happiness and concern for the future were seen at the farewell meeting.
