The IDF announced this morning (Wednesday) that it had eliminated the commander of the North Khan Yunis sector battalion of Hamas, Teissir Mebasher. In the past, Mebasher served as the commander of the terrorist organization's naval force, and held several positions in the munitions production system.

Mabasher was a military and operational mastermind responsible for planning numerous terrorist attacks and is considered close to senior figures within the terrorist organization, with a particular emphasis on Mohammed Def, the head of the military wing. In the IDF, it was stated that Mebasher was responsible for a number of deadly attacks against soldiers and civilians of the State of Israel over the years, including the attack on the Atzmona pre-military academy in March 2002, in which five students from the academy were killed, and many others were injured.

Also, following intelligence information, it appears that he produced the explosive material that blew up the tunnel at the Orhan outpost in June 2004, as a result of which the late Sergeant Roy Nissim was killed and others were injured.

In addition, Mabasher was involved in the attack on the Vered outpost in June 2003 and was also involved in the infiltration attack on the beaches of Zikim during Operation "Protective Edge." During the war, around 300 rockets and mortar shells were fired from the northern Khan Yunis area towards Israel.
