The Israel Democracy Institute published a poll today (Monday) on the public’s satisfaction with the war in the south. According to the poll, 87% of the Jewish public trusts the army. Trust in the Israel Police has shot up to 59%.

47% Believe the Government Has No Plan for the Next Stages of Fighting

Regarding the functioning of the government, trust among the public in the government is the lowest in two decades – just 18%, with the main drop being registered among rightwing voters. Much has been said of trust in the media in recent years but with the fighting ongoing, the trend has reversed, and trust in the media has gone up to 38%.

On the issue of the fighting with Hamas, 48% believe the government lacks a clear plan of action for the continued fighting in Gaza, while 43.5% believe there is such a plan. Regarding the northern front, 48% of Israel Jews believe that Israel should strike first against Hezbollah, while 37% believe that every effort should be made to avoid opening up another front.

On the question of releasing the captives, half of those asked believed in immediately negotiating with Hamas to free the captives, whether during the fighting (32%) or stopping the fighting to do so (17.5%).
