According to Palestinian reports, one of the terrorists killed in the Air Force bombing of the mosque hideout in Jenin is Osama Bani Fadl, a resident of Aqraba near Shchem, who planned and carried out the shooting attack that killed Shay Silas Nigrekar (60) and his son Aviad Nir (28) in August. According to reports, he succeeded in fleeing to the Jenin refugee camp after the attack.
Aviad and Shai, residents of Ashdod were murdered in a shooting attack two months ago at Huwara, where they had gone to fix the air conditioner in their car and buy accessories for the vehicle. They then took it to a nearby carwash, where the terrorist was waiting. After the attack, the IDF operated in a number of places in Huwara, but the terrorist had already fled – and has now been killed by the Air Force.
As we reported this morning, a joint IDF-Shin Bet operation destroyed a terror tunnel at the al-Ansari mosque in the city of Jenin. The mosque housed a Hamas and Islamic Jihad terror squad planning to carry out an attack in the immediate future.
Large forces belonging to the IDF, Shin Bet and Border Guard operated in multiple places throughout Judea and Samaria and the Jordan Valley to defeat terrorism. They arrested 46 people suspected of involvement in terror activity, 27 of whom are members of the Hamas terror organization. The Hebron printing press suspected of printing incitement material for terror organizations was sealed and its equipment impounded.
The soldiers confiscated many weapons in the village of Qabatiya and in the city of Hebron. The Mayor of al-Bira, identified as a Hamas activist, was also arrested. Forces also arrested two military activists of Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Qabatiya, south of Jenin – Salah Camil and Yusuf Nazal. During their arrest, three weapons and ammunition were seized.
Since the beginning of the fighting, some 727 suspects have been arrested in these areas, over 480 of whom are affiliated with Hamas.
