The IDF announced today (Thursday) that in recent days, tens of thousands of ceramic plates have been delivered to forces in the field. In the coming days, the equipping will continue, and the military is working to expand and expedite the procurement of personal protection for the fighters.
According to the IDF statement, the plates that have arrived are tested using firing trials and examined for suitability based on weight and structure to ensure they are adapted and safe for combat. Afterward, the plates go through an assembly process onto vests, and upon completion, a quality control check is performed. If the vest is found to be in good condition, it is distributed to the combat forces in the field.
Furthermore, it was reported that over 9,000 ceramic vests have been distributed to the front-line units so far. It is essential to emphasize that the ceramic vests are primarily intended for the combat forces participating in the maneuvering campaigns, and they are supplied to the field according to the force's construction regulations and priority procedures for force deployment.
The Commander of the IDF Logistics Center, Brigadier General Sagiv Sharvit, explains: "A soldier who requires a ceramic vest for his mission will receive a ceramic vest. This doesn't mean that every soldier who wants a ceramic vest will have one. Everything depends on the mission and is determined according to the relevant branch's definition and the definitions of the commanders in the field."
According to him: "We've opened the ceramic vest assembly line, and we collect thousands of vests every day directly from the airport, which arrive at one of the supplier bases, where we assemble them - and they will go wherever needed."
