ON PESACH! Bizarre pita protest outside Minister Idit Silman's home sparks outrage

The pitas are arranged to form the phrase “One Pita a Day,” referencing statements by freed hostages about the poor nutritional conditions in Hamas captivity. Silman responded, calling the protesters “scoundrels.”

Pita protest on Pesach

This morning (Monday), a protest display composed of pitas was set up outside the home of Environmental Protection Minister Idit Silman as a demonstration calling for the release of hostages.

The installation features pitas arranged to spell out “One Pita a Day,” alluding to accounts from released hostages about the meager living and nutritional conditions endured in Hamas captivity.

Silman, known for her opposition to chametz in hospitals during Passover, a stance that led to her resignation from the Bennett-Lapid government in 2022, labeled the protesters “scoundrels” in response.

“Passover. A street mostly populated by religious and traditional Jews. These scoundrels come to scatter pitas across the road,” she wrote on her X account.

She continued: “This isn’t for the hostages. It isn’t for democracy. It isn’t even for politics. It’s only because they’re vile, devoid of basic human values. Zero care for others, zero respect for Judaism, and zero civility. Absolute zeros. The vast majority of the nation is disgusted by them.”

She's right. Jews are not allowed to eat, own or even see chametz on Pesach, according to the Torah. The cynical leftists protesters know that only too well. Those who are supposed to be our brothers, using our religion against us, is absolutely horrific and disgraceful behavior. It goes to their values (or rather, to their lack of values). There is nothing scared, no line they won't cross. What a truly sad state of affairs.
