A Hero Of Israel
Benjamin Netanyahu hosts widow of spy Eli Cohen
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife received Nadia Cohen, widow of spy Eli Cohen at the Prime Minister's Office today, presenting her with a letter of appreciation to be placed in the Eli Cohen museum.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara hosted Nadia Cohen, widow of Eli Cohen, an Israeli spy who provided critical information for Israel who was caught and hanged as a traitor in Syria, in Jerusalem today (Thursday).
In what the Prime Minister's Office described as an emotional ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of his birth, the Prime Minister presented Nadia with a special, framed letter of appreciation that will be placed, at Nadia's request, at the Eli Cohen Museum in Herzliya.
The Prime Minister said that Eli's heroism saved many lives and was a huge asset to the country's security, and that his actions in Syria continue to inspire Israel and the world to this day.
Cohen's exploits have been the subject of multiple dramatizations, including books and even a Netflix series called The Spy.
Sara Netanyahu reportedly expressed her great appreciation to Nadia for her energetic and determined work to preserve Eli's legacy and commemorate him for future generations. She also noted that Eli's legacy and heroism have been etched in her since her childhood.
The Prime Minister added that efforts to return Eli to be buried in Israel continue and will continue until the mission is completed, as well as efforts to return all of our abductees - both the living and the dead. Thus far, all such efforts have ended in complete failure, and even the location of Cohen's body remains unknown.
The meeting was attended by the coordinator of the IDF, Brigadier General (res.) Gal Hirsch; the head of the families' division at the Abductees' Administration, Varda Pomerantz; and a representative of the Mossad.
