Instead of Ronen Bar
Netanyahu appoints new Shin Bet head - All the details
Despite the Supreme Court's Position: Prime Minister Netanyahu Decides to Appoint the Deputy Head of the Shin Bet as Acting Replacement, Instead of Shin Bet Chief Ronen Bar, Until a Permanent Shin Bet Chief is Appointed

A day after the government meeting in which the dismissal of Ronen Bar was decided, the Supreme Court froze the move. Justice Gila Canfy-Steinitz signed the decision. According to the justice’s claim, the decision was intended to "prevent a claim of an irreversible situation."
The Prime Minister's Office provided this surprising update today (Wednesday): Prime Minister Netanyahu continues to interview candidates for the position of Shin Bet chief, including candidates he has already interviewed. According to the schedule set by the government for the end of Ronen Bar's tenure by April 10, it will not be possible to appoint a permanent Shin Bet chief through the Gronis Committee by that date.
As a result, the Prime Minister intends to assign the current Deputy Head of the Shin Bet, identified as "Shin," to serve as acting replacement until a permanent Shin Bet chief is appointed.
After criticism began to emerge regarding Netanyahu’s move, particularly due to the Supreme Court’s ruling that prohibits the Prime Minister from appointing an acting replacement after the discussion, the Prime Minister's Office briefed reporters that "Shin" would serve as a temporary acting replacement only.
The Prime Minister is also considering external candidates for the role of Shin Bet chief, but he is focusing on candidates from within the Shin Bet or with prior Shin Bet experience.
