Report: Israel striking "scientific center" in Damascus - and sending a warning shot to Turkey
The Israeli Air Force is reportedly attacking a "scientific center" located in Damascus as well as an anti-aircraft battery.

The IDF has reportedly struck a "scientific center" located in Damascus tonight (Wednesday), as well as an anti-aircraft battery. Syrian media also reports a strike against two military airports in the same area, including the T4 or Tiyas airport which Turkey reportedly wants for its own purposes.
Ever since the fall of Bashar Assad to rebel forces under current Syrian President Ahmad "al-Julani" a-Sharaa, the IDF Air Force has been doing everything possible to destroy any and all military assets once belonging to Bashar Assad's army to deny their use to potentially hostile forces.
These include weapons storage facilities, bases containing weapons up to and including full battle tanks, airfields, and scientific institutions suspected of being used to develop chemical weapons.
Israeli sources speaking to Army Radio reporter Doron Kadosh provided this breakdown and rationale for the strike:
These were the strike's targets:
- The Scientific Research Center in Damascus
- The T-4 Military Airbase (the purpose of strikes there - among other things - to send a message to Turkey that Israel will not allow Turkish military bases to be established in the area)
- The Military Airbase in Hama
According to Kadosh's sources, "the central story of the strikes in Syria, which have already become routine: sending a message to Erdogan and the Turks - don't dare establish a military presence in Syrian territory.
"Recently, there have been reports about Turkey's intentions to establish military bases and deploy systems, including air defense systems, in Syrian territory. Such systems would harm the complete freedom of operation that the Air Force has created in Syrian skies in recent months.
"Israel has also sent warning messages to Julani, the president of Syria - not to allow the Turkish establishment."
