Israel told the United States and Egypt that it demands Egypt dismantle the military infrastructure erected inside the Sinai Peninsula, which it considers a "violation" of the Camp David peace treaty, according to a report today (Monday) by Israel Hayom.

A senior security source speaking with reporters defined the Egyptian actions as a "significant violation." He explained that the movement of military forces into the Sinai Peninsula beyond existing quotas as determined in the peace agreement's military annex is the "small problem" because these issues are "reversible" and that it's "not hard to move tanks backward." He also stressed that this matter is a high priority for Defense Minister Israel Katz.

The source stressed that Israel wishes to preserve the peace agreement with Egypt and has no intention of changing its own military deployments along with southern border with Egypt. However, it will not "reconcile with the situation" of Egypt increasing its forces and infrastructure in the area.
