Indonesian President Pravo Subianto told Reuters on Wednesday that his country was ready to accept Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, instructing his foreign minister to discuss with Palestinian officials and other professionals how to evacuate Gazans to Indonesia.

It was also reported that Subianto is expected to visit Turkey, Egypt and Qatar to discuss the details of the plan.

According to Subianto, Indonesia is "ready to provide temporary shelter to Palestinians affected by the war in Gaza, and to evacuate the wounded, injured and orphaned."

The Indonesian president estimated that there will be about 1,000 Palestinians who will arrive in the Muslim country in the first wave of evacuation, while they will stay in the country temporarily until they fully recover from their wounds and the situation in Gaza is safe for their return.

"Indonesia wants to increase its role in the search for a solution to the conflict," Subianto said. "This plan is not simple, but Indonesia's commitment to supporting the security and independence of the Palestinians has pushed our government to act more proactively."
