A new era
Historic change in IDF: Soldiers have been waiting for this for many years
For the first time in IDF history, soldiers will be able to grow a beard without special permission; The struggle was led by the Combat Doctrine Organization and MK Kati Shitrit.

A historic change in the IDF's orders went into effect this morning (Wednesday), when a sweeping permit was granted to grow beards without the need for special approval.
The move was led by the Combat Doctrine Organization and Knesset member Kati Shitrit, after Golani fighters approached the organization exactly a year ago. According to the arrangement, all soldiers will be entitled to grow a beard regardless of identity aspects, provided that it suits the proper military appearance and meets the criteria set out in the sections of the Ordinance.
"The IDF is a Jewish army," said the Combat Doctrine organization, "and after many years of struggle, with God's help, we have succeeded, led by our energetic friend MK Kati Shitrit, to carry out a historic and significant amendment that will stop the delusional persecution of bearded soldiers by senior IDF officials."
The amendment to the ordinance comes at a significant time, a time which the organization calls "the war of independence and identity of the people of Israel against its enemies." They added that "from now on, the beard will be considered an inseparable part of the character of the Israeli fighter, without the need for special examinations and permits, as was customary until now."
The struggle to change the order has been going on for a long time, and the Combat Doctrine Organization expressed its gratitude to Defense Minister Israel Katz and Justice Minister Yariv Levin for their cooperation throughout the process. The organization also thanked Minister Amichai Eliyahu, who they say has been fighting the issue for ten years, and the network's activist Gilad the bearded for their contribution to the struggle.
