A sharp response against terrorism
IDF eliminates terrorist after explosives thrown at troops near Jenin
Israeli forces eliminated one terrorist and injured two others when they responded to explosives being hurled at them in Silat al-Harithiya near Jenin, later apprehending eight additional suspects and confiscating weapons during overnight operations in northern Samaria.

Israeli security forces successfully neutralized a threat near Jenin on Wednesday when terrorists attacked troops with explosive devices in Silat al-Harithiya. The incident, which left one attacker dead and two others wounded, occurred during ongoing counterterrorism operations in northern Samaria.
According to a joint statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Israel Security Agency (ISA), and Israel Police, the soldiers came under attack when multiple terrorists hurled explosive devices toward them. The troops responded with precision fire, eliminating one terrorist and wounding two others. No Israeli casualties were reported in the confrontation.
The incident highlights the persistent security challenges facing Israeli forces in the Samaria, particularly in the Jenin area, which has long been a hotbed of militant activity. IDF troops have maintained an increased presence in the region as part of broader efforts to prevent terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians.
In addition to Wednesday's operation, Israeli security forces conducted overnight raids throughout northern Samaria, apprehending eight suspects believed to be involved in terrorist activities. During these operations, forces confiscated two "Carlo" submachine guns - improvised weapons frequently used by Palestinian militants in attacks against Israeli targets.
All detained suspects, along with the seized weapons, were transferred to the ISA and Israel Police for further interrogation. Authorities will work to determine the suspects' connections to known terrorist organizations and uncover any planned attacks.
The joint counterterrorism effort demonstrates the continued coordination between Israel's various security branches as they work to maintain stability in Judea and Samaria. These operations come amid heightened tensions in the region following a series of violent incidents in recent months.
"Israeli security forces will continue to operate to thwart terrorism in Judea and Samaria to maintain the security of Israeli civilians," emphasized the joint statement from the security agencies. This commitment reflects Israel's ongoing determination to prevent violence against its citizens while working to dismantle terrorist infrastructure in Judea and Samaria.
The IDF has repeatedly stated that it distinguishes between combatants and civilians during operations, taking precautions to minimize harm to non-combatants while targeting those directly involved in planning or executing terrorist attacks.
As Israeli forces continue their security operations across the West Bank, officials remain vigilant against the threat of further attacks, particularly as regional tensions persist.
