Why has the IDF learned nothing from October 7?
IDF watches Hamas fighters conducting intense training exercises on the Gaza border – and does nothing
Considering what Israel is still experiencing as a result of Hamas' vicious October 7th attack, it's extremely surprising and even more concerning that the IDF is allowing them to re-group and plan further attacks.

In a concerning development during the ongoing ceasefire, an IDF soldier has documented Hamas terrorists conducting training exercises just hundreds of meters from the Israel-Gaza border, according to veteran Israeli journalist Amit Segal's report released this morning (Wednesday).
The footage reveals Hamas operatives engaging in organized military drills in the northern Gaza Strip, complete with commanders directing operations on the ground, terrorists arranged in formations of three and strategically positioned evacuation vehicles
This revelation comes amid escalating reports from Gaza envelope residents who have witnessed Hamas terrorists approaching the border fence with increasing frequency. Local residents report observing terrorists testing IDF boundary responses and conducting unimpeded training exercises in clear view of Israeli territory.
Military correspondent Avi Ashkenazi, speaking on 103fm radio, offered a stark assessment of the situation. "Hamas is clearly preparing for an attack," he stated, noting recent observations of Hamas activity near the border fence.
Ashkenazi highlighted a particularly troubling incident involving bulldozers near Nahal Oz. While the bulldozer operation itself was coordinated and approved, Ashkenazi criticized the IDF's communication strategy: "The IDF is making a major error here. When they know such work is happening near the fence, why aren't residents being updated? This represents a serious breakdown in military-civilian communication - it seems the lessons from October 7 haven't been fully internalized."
The correspondent revealed that Hamas militants have been observed placing explosive devices in various locations, watching IDF operations from just meters away and increasing their provocative activities under the cover of the ceasefire.
"They are becoming more brazen," Ashkenazi warned. "They're using this ceasefire to prepare for combat. The army will eventually have to address this escalating situation."
In a significant disclosure, Ashkenazi revealed that the IDF had been poised for action in Gaza as recently as last weekend. "Units were already mounted on their vehicles," he stated. "If the three hostages hadn't been released, we would be looking at a very different situation in the Gaza Strip right now."
The Israeli Security Cabinet is scheduled to meet tonight to discuss the next phase of negotiation deals, against this backdrop of increasing Hamas activity along the border.
