Why am I still here?
WATCH: Sign of life from hostage Edan Alexander: "I'm physically broken"
Hamas released another sign of life from the Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander. In the video, Alexander asks "Why am I still here?!"

Hamas released last night (Passover eve) a new sign of life from the Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander.
Edan's name has been mentioned frequently recently in connection with a potential deal between Israel and Hamas, with the U.S., acting as a mediator, demanding the release of the last living American still held by Hamas.
Hamas dictated the text to the hostage, saying, "You are leaving us here, and I’ve reached a breaking point. I’m physically broken, and I’m mentally broken," Alexander says. "Tell me – why? Why am I not at home? With my friends, with my family. Why am I here filming my second video?"
"I truly want to believe that I will return home safely, celebrate with you, and enjoy with you. Why am I here today suffering from nightmares at night? Every day I hear the voice of my mother, my father, my little brother," Alexander says.
"I came to Israel to serve in Golani, I’m a lone soldier. On October 7th, I was left alone at the outpost facing an entire army," Alexander is seen saying, adding at Hamas’s request, "I truly want to believe that this video won’t be the last time you see me alive," Alexander said.
Edan's parents, Yael and Adi Alexander, asked to convey the following in response to the release of Hamas's video last night:
"Our son Edan left everything behind, his friends, the studies he could have started, the comfortable life in the United States, and us, his immediate family and immigrated alone to Israel to enlist in Golani, to defend the country he loves so much and its residents. Alone. That’s how it was on October 7th when he was left alone at the outpost, trying to protect the communities near the Gaza border against Hamas terrorists. And now, the State of Israel is leaving him and the other hostages alone, alone in the tunnels, alone in the hands of the enemy. It becomes harder with every moment. You can see it on him, you can see the fear, the despair. 555 days, more than a year and a half, and the State of Israel, its leaders, and its officials were able to celebrate Passover, the holiday of freedom and the exodus from Egypt, while our son is still there.
It is unimaginable that our country is not doing everything to bring back our Edan, a young man with values and love for his country and its people. Edan did everything for Israel; now Israel must do everything for him and for the 58 remaining hostages held by Hamas."
Netanyahu spoke with Edan Alexander's parents after the release of the video and told them, "At this very moment, tremendous efforts are being made to bring him back."
