Bezalel Smotrich: Welcome, Mike Huckabee!

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich published a post today (Wednesday), congratulating newly minted US Ambassador Mike Huckabee.

Here is the full statement:

"I warmly congratulate Mike Huckabee on his appointment as the United States Ambassador to Israel.

"Congratulations to Mike, congratulations to the State of Israel, and congratulations to the United States. President Trump's choice of Huckabee is excellent news for the State of Israel.

"Mike is a close friend of the Jewish people and a true friend of the State of Israel - a person with a Zionist heart, great love for the country and for the historic and deep connection between our peoples. Israel has no closer friend than the United States and President Trump, and such an appointment only further strengthens the strong alliance between us.

"I look forward to close cooperation with Ambassador Huckabee and to advancing shared goals for a better future for both countries. Welcome Mike - we are already waiting for you in Jerusalem!"

Huckabee, appointed by President Donald Trump, was confirmed by the Senate today on a party-line vote, with the exception of Democratic Senator John Fetterman, who voted in favor.
