In a stunning turn of events, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has fired Shin Bet Chief Ronen Bar, dropping the bombshell during an urgent, closed-door meeting at his office. The abrupt dismissal, announced late Sunday, sends shockwaves through Israel’s security establishment—but the final word rests with the government, as Netanyahu prepares to push the decision through at the next cabinet session.

Summoned without warning, Bar faced Netanyahu’s resolute verdict: his tenure as head of Israel’s internal security agency is over. "The Prime Minister met with Ronen Bar and informed him that a proposal to end his role will be brought to the government this week," the PM’s office declared in a terse statement.

The decision is expected to be brought before the government for approval this week.
