WATCH: Trump's envoy pledges swift action on American hostages 

Adam Boehler, President Trump’s special envoy for hostages and captives, delivered a powerful message today (Thursday) at a State Department ceremony honoring the hostage community and their families on the administration’s stance toward American hostages.

Speaking on the issue of civilian abductions, Boehler asserted that President Trump would not hesitate to take decisive action to ensure the release of any American held overseas. "It is in no way acceptable to hold American hostages or abductees at all," Boehler said, reinforcing the government's commitment to protecting American citizens and bringing them home from captivity.

Boehler stated that "this president, President Trump, has made it a critical priority of his administration, to bring the hostages back...You saw what the President said yesterday to Hamas, he made it abundantly clear that taking U.S. citizens captive is not appropriate and will be answered in the toughest way possible. And this President has no qualms about using action when it is necessary."

FBI Director Kash Patel stated that the FBI will work to “zero out” the population of Americans detained or held hostage in foreign countries.

“My singular promise to you in this community is that I will do everything as the director of the FBI to marshal the resources necessary to make sure that no other American family feels that pain,” Patel said during the flag-raising event.

“We still don’t have everybody back," Patel said. “Whatever lawful authorities we have at the FBI, we are going to give 24/7, 365 days to make sure that we zero out this number and to make sure we prevent others from going into situations that you are now all too familiar with.”
