Israel preparing to return to war
Defense Minister Katz instructs IDF to be on high alert amid threat of ceasefire breakdown
The fragile ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas is teetering on the edge of collapse after Hamas announced a delay in the scheduled release of hostages.

A spokesperson for the terror group cited Israel's failure to fully commit to the terms of the agreement, leaving the hostages' return uncertain. This delay poses a significant threat to the ceasefire, which hinges on the exchange of Palestinian prisoners for Israeli hostages
.
The announcement follows a series of developments that have eroded Israel's leverage in the ongoing situation. Israel has already lost control over the Netzarim corridor, which now allows free passage for Gazans to move northward. Additionally, the Rafah crossing is facilitating the transfer of wounded individuals, further complicating Israel's position.
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz strongly condemned Hamas' actions, describing the delay in the release of hostages as a "blatant violation" of the ceasefire and hostage exchange deal. In response to the new threats, Katz has directed the Israeli military to remain on high alert and be prepared for any potential developments in Gaza. He reiterated that Israel would not allow a return to the circumstances of October 7, the date when a devastating attack by Hamas killed hundreds of Israelis and led to widespread destruction.
As the situation intensifies, Israel’s efforts to safeguard its citizens and maintain security remain critical, while the international community watches to see whether the ceasefire will hold or ultimately fall apart.
