The IDF's "Mountains" Brigade combat team, operating under the command of 210th Division, conducted a raid into the tangled area of the Lebanese Mount Dov, just across the northern border, in order to remove threats and terrorist infrastructure.
The soldiers located multiple weapons including anti-tank missile launchers, rocket launchers, machine guns, sights, and missiles aimed at Israel. All the weapons and military equipment were confiscated.
The Mountains Brigade is continuing to deepen its achievements in removing any and all threats Hezbollah may present to Israel in the Mount Dov area, all in accordance to the IDF's understandings of the ceasefire provisions.
Watch here (source: IDF Spokesperson):
For its part, the State of Lebanon and Hezbollah are expressing increasing frustration at the slowness of the IDF's withdrawal from southern Lebanon, noting "security related pretexts" of IDF raids on towns and locations to destroy as much of Hezbollah weaponry and infrastructure as it can - itself.
Defense Minister Israel Katz and other defense officials have said that the IDF's withdrawal will depend on the success of the Lebanese Army in deploying throughout southern Lebanon and demilitarizing it and Hezbollah's staying entirely behind the Litani River, not the 60-day timeline for withdrawal, set to end this coming Sunday on January 26.
The Lebanese Army claims that it has been able to move quickly into areas the IDF evacuates and move to discover and destroy any weaponry found in those areas, though a western source familiar with the Lebanese Army said that while the senior officers are on board with their mission - many of their junior officers are not. Some are even sympathetic to Hezbollah.
Israel has also been seeking to remain on three unoccupied but strategic hills which allow the army to shield important towns in the north and observe any suspicious activity in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese government, from the President on down, insists Israel withdraw entirely - and by the end of the 60-day period.
