Israel has officially confirmed that Hamas has given written approval for the negotiated hostage deal, and that all last minute challenges were overcome.

The deal comes after months of mediation efforts by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar between Israel and Hamas over the number of hostages to be released at each stage, the number of prisoners to be released as well as the danger they present, the deployment of the IDF within the Gaza Strip, and whether Israel will agree to end the war in advance.

Hamas had repeatedly insisted in every effort at negotiation that Israel give guarantees that the IDF entirely withdraw from the Gaza Strip and end the war permanently, conditions which Israel refused to unequivocally give right from the start.

Hamas also often used all kinds of delaying tactics, claiming that the leadership in Gaza, which actually holds the hostages, cannot be reached or that all sorts of new conditions need to be met in order for Hamas to agree to the deal.

Deliveries of 600 humanitarian aid trucks each day of the agreement, 50 of which will include fuel and 300 will reach the northern Gaza Strip.

These are the details of the deal, according to Reuters:

Hamas will release 33 Israelis, including all women, children and men over the age of 50. Hamas will first release female abductees, those under the age of 19, and then men over the age of 50.

Israel will release 30 Palestinian imprisoned terrorists for each abductee, 50 for each female soldier. Israel will release all Palestinian women and children under the age of 19 who have been detained since October 7.

The number of Palestinian terrorists to be released will depend on the number of abductees to be released, and could be between 990 and 1,650, including men, children and women.

Living hostages will be released before those who died or were murdered.

The third part of the agreement is expected to include the return of all the bodies, under the supervision of Qatar and the UN.

A ceasefire will be in place for a month and a half for the first phase, during which the IDF will redeploy within the Gaza Strip. Israel and Hamas will negotiate the details of the second and third phases during this period.
