This is a particularly important strategic step during challenging times, according to Miri Regev.

The Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Transportation have partnered with El Al Airlines to establish maximum airfares for key destinations during January and February 2025.

The price-capped round-trip fares are:

- Athens (Greece): $299

- Vienna (Austria): $349

- Dubai (UAE): $349

- Frankfurt (Germany): $349

These destinations were selected as major transportation hubs to enable Israeli citizens to reach key airports from which they can connect to destinations worldwide.

The price caps aim to ensure fair pricing even during peak seasons and prevent fares from exceeding the agreed-upon thresholds. This initiative follows ongoing discussions between government ministers and El Al over the past six months, focusing on price control and consumer-friendly solutions.

Minister of Economy and Industry Nir Barkat stated: "As part of our efforts to control prices during this emergency period, we're taking significant steps in the aviation market to make flights more accessible to Israelis, even during peak seasons. This initiative is part of an inter-ministerial collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation, led by Minister Miri Regev, who understands the importance of addressing the cost of living. We continue to develop tools to enhance competition, reduce flight prices, and enable every citizen to enjoy traveling to major global destinations at fair prices."

Transportation Minister Miri Regev added: "This announcement will allow Israelis to travel abroad easily and at accessible prices, even during the busiest periods. We're proud to continue maintaining open and secure Israeli skies while adapting transportation solutions for the general public. This move is part of the Transportation Ministry's policy to make aviation accessible to all segments of the population. I thank Economy Minister Nir Barkat, ministry directors-general, El Al, and all involved for their effective cooperation that helps citizens and strengthens Israeli aviation."
