The IDF announced today (Monday) that three IDF soldiers belonging to the Kfir Brigade were killed in action near Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip - 22-year-old Lt. Ilay Gavriel Atedgi, First Sergeant 21-year-old Netanel Pessach, and 21-year-old Sgt.-Major Hillel Diener.

According to an initial inquiry into the incident reported by Doron Kadosh of Army Radio, the three fell during a new operation by the Kfir Brigade into the Sheikh Zaid neighborhood west of Beit Hanoun, where the IDF operated last year but where it did not yet reach in current operations.

As the force entered into an alleyway, an explosive device was activated, killing the three soldiers and moderately wounding a fourth. Another force reaching the area was hit with an explosion themselves, but the bomb did not cause any additional casualties.

Since the 162nd Division began operations in the northern Gaza Strip, it has suffered some 38 dead.

May all their memories be for a blessing.
