At the conclusion of a security assessment held yesterday under the leadership of Defense Minister Israel Katz, and with the participation of the Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Herzl Halevi, and other commanders, the Defense Minister instructed the IDF to prepare for the deployment of IDF soldiers at the Hermon summit for the winter months – due to the situation in Syria.
Due to the harsh weather conditions, the installation of appropriate facilities and special preparations are required for the soldiers' stay at the peak of Hermon.
Defense Minister Katz emphasized that "due to the situation in Syria, there is immense security importance in our hold on the summit of the Hermon, and everything must be done to ensure the IDF's preparedness in the area to allow the soldiers to stay there under the harsh weather conditions."
