Lebanese Prime Minister Nagib Mikati has rejected Iranian Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf's proposal that the two countries jointly negotiate the implementation of UN Resolution 1701, calling such a proposal an "outrageous intervention in Lebanon's internal affairs."

Mikati has said a number of times that Lebanon is willing to fully implement the resolution, which requires that only state-based armed forces be present south of the Litani River, with the use of the Lebanese Army.
