Amro Abu Rida, arrested by the IDF at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, was initially presented as a journalist from the area. However, Israeli journalist Avishai Grinzaig reported on Kann News that the IDF has evidence of Abu Rida's direct involvement in the attacks, including footage of him firing weapons during an assault on an Israeli tank near Kibbutz Nir Oz where soldiers were killed and kidnapped.

During interrogation, Abu Rida reportedly admitted to being a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a designated terrorist organization. He confessed to participating in the massacre, including kicking the body of a hostage and later joining the attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz, where he documented the atrocities. His brother is also alleged to have been involved in the kidnapping of the Bibas family.

This case follows recent revelations about other Gaza-based media figures who were present during the October 7 attacks, including Hassan Eslih and Muthanna Najjar. Najjar reportedly managed to flee to Egypt, while Eslih's attempt to escape was unsuccessful.

The IDF states that Abu Rida's arrest at a hospital was part of his attempt to pose as a civilian after participating in ambushes against Israeli forces in Khan Yunis.
