Brian May, the iconic guitarist of Queen, has disclosed that he suffered a minor stroke a week ago. The 77-year-old musician shared the news with his fans through an Instagram video on Tuesday, describing the incident as a "little health hiccup" that briefly left him unable to control his arm.

May, known for his contributions to hits like "We Will Rock You," found the experience "a little scary" but reassured fans that he's recovering well. "Good news is that I can play guitar after the events of the last few days," he said.

The guitarist praised the staff at Frimley Park Hospital near Camberley, Surrey, where he received treatment, "I have to say I had the most fantastic care and attention from Frimley hospital, where I went blue lights flashing … the lot. Very exciting!"

Despite the seriousness of the situation, May maintained his characteristic humor and positivity. He explained that he delayed sharing the news because he didn't want to garner sympathy. "I didn't want to say anything at the time because I didn't want anything surrounding, you know, I really don't want sympathy," he stated, adding, "Please don't do that because it will clutter up my inbox."

May is still an active member of Queen, who have been performing with Adam Lambert as their frontman in recent years.

Fans worldwide have expressed relief at the news of May's recovery and his ability to continue playing the instrument that has defined his career since he joined the band in 1970.

As May focuses on his recovery, the music world hopes for the continued health and creativity of one of rock's most enduring legends.
