How Israel’s Attacks Shattered Nasrallah
Nasrallah's son revealed: "Dad fell into depression after the beeper operation"
In a rare and revealing interview with the Al-Manar channel, which is affiliated with Hezbollah, the son of the late Hezbollah leader, Hassan Nasrallah, shared previously unknown details about his father’s mental state leading up to his assassination by Israel.

The interview provided a unique glimpse into the personal toll that recent events had taken on Nasrallah before his death.
Nasrallah’s son explained that his father’s psychological condition began to deteriorate after a series of significant losses within Hezbollah. He specifically referenced the death of Fouad Shukr, a prominent senior commander, and the aftermath of the beeper attack by Israel, which targeted key Hezbollah operatives across Lebanon. “Since Fuad was killed, and then the beeper attack happened, and until his death – he fell into depression,” Nasrallah’s son revealed. He noted that many who interacted with his father during this period remarked that he was no longer the same person.
The beeper attack, which caused both injuries and fatalities among Hezbollah’s ranks, is seen as a key turning point in the organization's internal struggles. The psychological toll of these events seemed to weigh heavily on Nasrallah, and according to his son, it was evident in his behavior. Political sources in Beirut suggest that Nasrallah’s mental state was a significant factor in the leadership challenges faced by Hezbollah, as the group continued to suffer devastating blows from Israel.
The interview also touched on the increasingly strict security measures surrounding Hassan Nasrallah in the months leading up to his assassination. Despite these heightened protocols, his son indicated that the stress and constant threat to his father’s life had a noticeable impact on his decision-making. “He was aware of the constant danger, but it seems he lost the caution that characterized him in the past,” said Nasrallah’s son.
This rare testimony offers an inside look into the personal and emotional challenges faced by one of Hezbollah’s most prominent leaders in the final months of his life, highlighting the profound effect that the organization's internal and external crises had on him.
