Thousands of Jerusalem residents mourned last night (Monday) as they accompanied Mrs. Nechama Wertheimer, a respected and righteous woman, to her final resting place. The wife of Rabbi Moshe Gedalya Wertheimer, she passed away at 70 after years of frailty and illness, leaving behind a legacy of devotion and kindness.

Mrs. Wertheimer was born to Rabbi Dov Meir Kreutzer, the longtime head of the Skver Yeshiva in Jerusalem’s Skver neighborhood and a towering figure in the city’s religious community. She later married Rabbi Moshe Gedalya Wertheimer, son of Rabbi Avraham Yehuda Wertheimer, the celebrated founder of the iconic “Beit Hillel” prayer houses in Bnei Brak’s Vizhnitz neighborhood.

Known as a woman of strength and virtue, she supported her husband’s work as an educator in the Vizhnitz and Rachmastrivka yeshivas in Jerusalem. Her deep faith guided her life—she raised her children steeped in Torah and reverence, and as principal of the Vizhnitz girls’ school in Jerusalem, she inspired countless students with her dedication.

After enduring years of suffering, Mrs. Wertheimer passed late Monday. Her funeral procession wound through Jerusalem’s streets in the early hours, ending at Har HaMenuchot cemetery.

She leaves behind a flourishing family—sons and grandsons devoted to Torah and good deeds, shaped by her gentle guidance. Among her surviving siblings is Rabbi Yaakov Kreutzer from Telz-Stone.

Shiva is being held at her home: 115C Sanhedria HaMurchevet, Jerusalem.

May her memory be a blessing.
