WATCH: Russia eliminates terrorist who planned synagogue attack
The FSB confronted the suspect in a dramatic raid, leading to a gunbattle that ended with the terrorist being eliminated.

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced that it had eliminated a terrorist who attempted to carry out attacks on a synagogue and a metro station in Moscow.
According to an official statement from the agency, the suspect - identified as a citizen of a Central Asian country - opened fire when FSB agents arrived to arrest him, triggering a gunbattle that ended with his elimination. The FSB emphasized that its forces acted swiftly to neutralize the threat and prevent potential mass casualties.
Russia had experienced numerous Islamic terrorist attacks, such as the attack in March of 2024 in which 143 people were murdered and hundreds injured in at the Crocus City Hall near Moscow.
ISIS accepted responsibility for that attack. According to media reports, four terrorists in camouflage uniforms entered a concert hall and opened fire, while throwing Molotov cocktails into the crowd.
Moreover, Russia has foiled several attempts to attack synagogues in Russia such as when a native of central Asia, had been spying on a synagogue in the capital city, and had acquired bomb-making materials. The suspect was shot while security forces were attempting to arrest him.
On March 7, 2024, the FSB announced that they had thwarted an ISIS plot to bomb a Moscow synagogue in the Kaluga province, about 200 kilometers from the capital.
