An anti-Israel activist who sparked controversy with her fiery commencement speech attacking the State of Israel has once again drawn criticism, this time blaming Israel for the wildfires that have devastated Los Angeles, according to the New York Post.
Fatima Mousa Mohammed posted on X on Wednesday claiming a connection between Israel’s military actions in Gaza and the unfolding climate disasters in California. “Dropping hundreds of thousands of tons of bombs on Gaza, turning it into a blazing inferno, has consequences that extend beyond our moral condemnation — there are climate consequences that will find us all,” she wrote.
In a series of follow-up posts, Mohammed elaborated, “You cannot care about the quality of rain falling in one part of the world while ignoring the rain of fire you help fund in others. The climate crisis will only worsen, and our complacency will only fuel the flames.” She added, “The flames of Gaza will not stop there; they will find us all if we don’t stop them… None of us are spared in the eye of the empire.”
The devastating Los Angeles wildfires, which began last Tuesday, have forced the evacuation of over 100,000 people, destroyed thousands of homes and businesses, and claimed at least 16 lives.
Local and state leaders have faced backlash for inadequate preparation, with issues such as empty fire hydrants hampering firefighting efforts.
