House Speaker Mike Johnson announced on Tuesday that the House is set to approve sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC) and its Chief Prosecutor, Karim Khan, in response to the court’s recent arrest warrants targeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

"This week, the House will vote to impose sanctions on ICC officials and put the ICC prosecutor, Karim Khan, back in his place," Johnson declared, underscoring his dissatisfaction with the court's actions.

"[Khan] does not have jurisdiction over Israel or the United States, and it is outrageous that they’re issuing arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant. The ICC is actually equating Israel and Hamas, even as Hamas still holds Israelis and American hostages. It is just absurd," Johnson added in sharp criticism of the court’s decisions.

"The House will not tolerate rogue actors who circumvent international law to attack Israel and threaten America. We won’t do it," Johnson emphasized.

According to the Washington Free Beacon, the House vote on sanctions is scheduled for Thursday.

The sanctions bill had previously passed the House in June with bipartisan support, including votes from 42 Democrats. However, the legislation was not advanced by then-Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. Its reintroduction follows renewed commitments by key Republicans - both in Congress and the White House - to impose sanctions and diminish the ICC’s authority after the recent change in political leadership.
