A Holocaust memorial in Warsaw was spray-painted with the words "Gaza is like Treblinka." The hateful inscription appeared on the monument commemorating the 300,000 Jews of the Warsaw Ghetto who were deported to the Treblinka extermination camp in 1943.
The inscription on the monument in the Haumschlagplatz deportation square reads: "Warsaw 1943 = Gaza 2025." Since the beginning of the "Iron Sword" war, Holocaust memorials have been desecrated time and time again in Poland.
The same thing happened recently at the Central Monument to the Heroes of the Ghetto Uprising in Warsaw. In none of these cases did the Polish authorities catch the culprits.
Israel's ambassador to Poland, Dr. Yaakov Livneh, mentioned today on Reshet X that Poland has a special responsibility to protect Jewish sites and Holocaust memorial sites. The ambassador called on the Polish authorities to catch and punish the vandal criminals who are harming these sites.
"Shameful vandalism at the Warsaw memorial to the 300,000 Jews who were deported to Treblinka. Poland has a special responsibility to protect Jewish and Holocaust sites, and to place the responsibility on the vandals."
