US retail giant Walmart has seemingly removed two controversial shirts from its online marketplace featuring the image of slain Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.
The designs were flagged by US-based watchdog Antisemitism.org, which called the merchandise “outrageous” and condemned the fashion choices as deeply offensive.
One shirt displayed Sinwar’s face with his name split into “Sin” and “war,” while another featured a doctored caricature of the Hamas leader depicted in combat gear, firing a weapon.
While Walmart has removed shirts featuring slain Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, another controversial shirt featuring a low-resolution image of former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah remains available for purchase on its website.
The shirt, sold by a Texas-based third-party vendor, is titled “Nasrallah Safe Following Israeli Airstrikes.” This misleading claim contradicts the fact that Nasrallah was killed in an October 27 airstrike. The shirt is only available in XXL, prompting criticism for its insensitivity and poor oversight of third-party offerings.
Walmart has not issued a statement on the matter.
