Isak Andic, the visionary billionaire behind the European fashion brand Mango, tragically passed away on Saturday at the age of 71. He died following an accident while hiking near Barcelona, the company confirmed.
Andic, who served as Mango’s non-executive chairman, was a key figure in the company’s success. Mango’s CEO, Toni Ruiz, honored Andic’s legacy, describing him as an embodiment of leadership, vision, and values that shaped the company's culture.
"Isak has been an example for all of us. He dedicated his life to Mango, leaving an indelible mark thanks to his strategic vision, inspiring leadership, and unwavering commitment to values that he himself imbued in our company," Ruiz stated.
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez of Spain revealed on social media that Andic’s fatal accident occurred in the Salnitre caves in Collbató, near Barcelona. Local reports indicated that Andic fell into a ravine, with authorities confirming that the ravine was over 320 feet deep.
Mango paid tribute to Andic on its website, where the home page featured a heartfelt message in his honor, and flags at the company's headquarters in Barcelona were lowered to half-mast.
Andic founded Mango in 1984 in Barcelona. Under his leadership, the company expanded to over 120 global markets and became a leader in online retail. According to Forbes, Andic’s family is worth $4.5 billion.
