Unusual Step: Orthodox newspaper goes against Ben-Gvir, adds Arabic to article

The ultra-Orthodox newspaper Yated Ne'eman has taken an unusual step against Itamar Ben-Gvir by publishing a front page with an advertisement in Arabic. This follows Ben-Gvir's recent comments about policy on the Temple Mount, which have once again stirred controversy.

The newspaper labeled Ben-Gvir a "political arsonist" and emphasized that he is "igniting the area for the second time and endangering the residents of the Holy Land." Yated Ne'eman's front page today (Tuesday) featured a caption in Arabic and added that "Ben-Gvir's statement is severe."

Below the large Arabic caption, the text was also written in Hebrew. "It is well known that according to all Jewish legal authorities throughout the generations, ascending to the Temple Mount (referred to by Muslims as 'Haram al-Sharif') is strictly forbidden, and this view has not changed and remains in effect."

As a reminder, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir was interviewed yesterday on Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) and stated, "The policy allows for prayer on the Temple Mount; there is equal law for Jews and Muslims." Ben-Gvir added, "I would establish a synagogue there."

The Prime Minister's Office quickly responded, stating: "There is no change in the status quo on the Temple Mount."
